No Gender Guarantee
We do not DNA test our birds for gender. After a budgie (parakeet) has weaned, I can give you my “breeder’s guess” on gender. The accuracy of that guess depends greatly on the age and mutation of your baby. For example, true recessive pied males never develop the blue cere that standard mutations grow into. Until your bird is mature, the visual and behavioral signs of his/her gender won’t show up. And with all living things, some birds will show earlier, some later. Thus, I offer no guarantee on my breeder’s gender guesses. That said, I am still better than most at guessing. 😉

PLEASE NOTE: I use the pronouns “he” and “she” to describe the babies in their posts. This is NOT a gender label. It is simply for ease of grammatical expression, and because I prefer not to call them “it”.
If I have provided a breeder’s guess for a particular baby, the post will be labeled as “appears to be male/female” or “breeder’s guess: male/female”. If the guess is listed as N/A, the bird has not developed enough for me to guess yet. If at 8-9 weeks, I’m still on the fence, I will update his/her post.
Here’s some examples of mature birds for you to compare. Take note of any mutation, tho! Mutation matters. 🙂 … PICTURES COMING
